Tips for visitorshttps://www.karlsruhe-erleben.de

Karlsruhe has over 309,000 inhabitants, making it the third-largest city in Baden-Württemberg. It was founded in 1715 and is known for its fan-shaped layout with the palace at its center—hence its nickname, “Fächerstad” (fan city). Karlsruhe was the capital of the former state of Baden. The city is home to important federal courts, including the Federal Constitutional Court, and is therefore also known as the “residence of justice.” Karlsruhe is located in southwestern Germany in the Upper Rhine Plain, on the northwestern edge of the Black Forest. Karlsruhe is one of the warmest cities in Germany. The city consists of 27 districts and is surrounded by numerous nature and landscape areas. The Karlsruhe Exhibition and Congress Center is an important venue for national and international events. Since 2019, Karlsruhe has been part of the UNESCO network “City of Media Art”. karlsruhe.de
